Adult-Only Hotels in Cyprus: How to Choose the Right One
Cyprus has a growing number of adults-only and couples-focused hotels. This guide covers what is available, what to look for, and how to pick the right property for your trip.

The Adults-Only Scene in Cyprus

Cyprus has seen a significant increase in adults-only and couples-focused accommodation over the past decade. What was once a destination dominated by family resorts and all-inclusive packages now has a genuine range of properties designed for travellers who want a quieter, more refined experience.

But "adults only" means different things at different properties. Some are strictly 18-plus with no exceptions. Others are "designed for adults" — meaning the experience is geared towards couples and mature travellers, but children are technically permitted in certain areas. And the range spans from 5-star mega-resorts to intimate boutique properties.

This guide covers the main options across Cyprus and what to consider when choosing between them.

The Main Adult-Only Properties

Amavi, MadeForTwo (Paphos)

The Amavi was the first purpose-designed couples-only hotel in Cyprus, and it remains the benchmark. Located on the coast in Kato Paphos (not on the harbour, but on the beach strip), it has 155 rooms and suites, all with sea views. Four restaurants, a full spa, and a design aesthetic that leans modern and sleek.

What it does well: The all-inclusive "MadeForTwo" experience is polished and consistent. The restaurants are above average for a hotel, and the spa is excellent. Everything is geared towards couples.

What to know: It is a full resort — 155 rooms is big enough that you will share the pool and restaurants with a crowd. It is on the coast road, not on the harbour, so you are a taxi ride from the old town and the waterfront dining scene. Half-board and full-board options are available but you are somewhat locked into the property.

Asimina Suites (Paphos)

Part of the Constantinou Bros group, the Asimina is a 5-star all-suites property with four restaurants, four bars, interconnecting swimming pools, and a full-service spa. It is adults-only (16+) and sits on the beachfront in Geroskipou, east of central Paphos.

What it does well: Space. Every room is a suite, so you get a genuine living area. The pool complex is extensive and the beach access is direct.

What to know: It is further from the harbour and old town than the Amavi — a 15-minute drive rather than a 10-minute one. The dining, while good, leans towards the international resort style rather than local character.

Ivi Mare, Designed for Adults (Paphos)

A Louis Hotels property in central Kato Paphos, the Ivi Mare is a 5-star hotel with balcony sea views, indoor and outdoor pools, a spa with sauna and steam room, and direct beach access.

What it does well: Location — it is in the heart of Kato Paphos, walking distance from the harbour and the Archaeological Park. The spa facilities are comprehensive for a hotel of its size.

What to know: "Designed for Adults" is a softer label than "adults only." The property is geared towards mature guests but may not be strictly child-free in all areas. Check the current policy when booking.

Amanti, MadeForTwo (Ayia Napa)

Sister property to the Amavi, the Amanti is located in Ayia Napa — a very different setting from Paphos. It is walking distance from Ayia Napa's centre and the Blue Flag Pantachou Beach. The dining programme was developed with Michelin-starred chef Theodor Falser.

What it does well: If you want a couples-only experience with access to Ayia Napa's beaches and nightlife, this is the only real option. The dining programme with its Michelin connection is a draw.

What to know: Ayia Napa is traditionally a party destination. The Amanti provides a calm bubble within that, but the surrounding area is not inherently romantic in the way Paphos is. If you want culture and history, this is not the location.

The Elysium (Paphos)

A large 5-star property with a private beach, two outdoor pools, a full spa, five restaurants, and extensive grounds. The Elysium is not strictly adults-only, but it has adult-focused areas and wings that provide a quieter experience.

What it does well: Scale and variety. Five restaurants, multiple pools, and a spa give you plenty of options without leaving the property. The gardens and architecture are impressive.

What to know: It is not adults-only. You may share facilities with families, depending on the season. The size (over 200 rooms) means it operates more like a resort than a boutique experience.

What to Consider When Choosing

Truly Adults-Only vs "Designed for Adults"

This distinction matters. "Adults only" (or "couples only") means no one under 16 or 18, full stop. "Designed for adults" means the property targets that market but may still permit children. If a child-free environment is important to you, confirm the policy directly with the hotel.

Location Matters as Much as the Property

An adults-only hotel in the wrong location can feel isolating. Consider whether you want to:

  • Walk to restaurants and attractions — this favours Kato Paphos harbour area properties
  • Stay on a beach resort — this favours the coastal strip properties (Amavi, Asimina)
  • Access nightlife — this favours Limassol or Ayia Napa
  • Experience local culture — this favours smaller properties integrated into real neighbourhoods
  • Resort vs Boutique

This is perhaps the most important choice. Large resorts (150+ rooms) offer variety — multiple restaurants, extensive pools, full spas. Boutique properties (under 30 rooms) offer intimacy — personal service, a quieter atmosphere, and the sense that you are staying somewhere rather than visiting a facility.

At a resort, you tend to stay on-site. At a boutique property, you tend to go out — exploring the neighbourhood, discovering local restaurants, and integrating with the place you are visiting.

Neither is better. But they are genuinely different experiences.

    Board Basis

Half-board and all-inclusive packages at resort properties are convenient but restrictive. Paphos's harbour alone has dozens of waterfront restaurants, and half the experience of staying here is eating your way through them. If you choose a property with a mandatory board package, you are paying for meals you may not use while missing out on the local dining scene.

Bed-and-breakfast or room-only options give you the flexibility to eat where and when you want — which, in a place like Paphos, is a significant advantage.

    The Price Factor

5-star adults-only resorts in Cyprus typically start from 200 to 400 EUR per night in high season, with all-inclusive packages pushing higher. Boutique and smaller properties can offer significantly better value while delivering a more personal experience.

The question is not "how much does the room cost" but "how much does the total experience cost." A less expensive room in a walkable harbour location, where you eat at local restaurants, can deliver a better holiday than an expensive all-inclusive where you eat every meal in the same building.

    The Boutique Alternative

We built Poseidon Suites as a different kind of adults-only property. Instead of a resort set back from the coast, we are directly on Paphos Harbour — you step outside and you are in the middle of real Paphos life. Instead of all-inclusive dining, we leave you free to explore the harbour restaurants and the local food scene. Instead of 150 rooms, we offer an intimate property where the team knows your name.

Our rooftop infinity pool overlooks Paphos Castle. The Archaeological Park is a five-minute walk. The coastal promenade starts from our front door. And the harbour's best restaurants are closer than any hotel restaurant could be.

It is a different model from the big resorts — and for many couples, it is a better fit.
